DPM Pacolli, LilaPRISTINA (PRISHTINA) – After his forced resignation from the office of the President of Kosovo, businessman and head of the political party AKR accepted his “promo-tion” to the position of the “first deputy prime minister”. This was offered to Pacolli by PDK head and Kosovo PM Thaci in order compensate the anger of AKR about its loss of power, after US ambassador Dell instructed the ruling coalition and LDK to accept the recently voted Atifete Jahjaga as the new President of the republic.

Obviously upset, members of the European Parliament (MEP) experienced – that the EU director for the Balkans, the Slovak Miroslav Lajcak, while reporting to the Foreign Policy Committee of the European Parliament (EP) was not able to say more than “It is important that she was elected …”. Kosovo’s Compromise-President Thwarts Ambitions of Parliament Speaker Krasniqi

PRISHTINA / PRISTINA – Both parties of the ruling coalition in Kosovo, the New Alliance for Kosovo (AKR) and the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), agreed together with the biggest opposition party, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), on a “consensual” candidate for the recently passed anew presidential election by the Kosovan parlia-ment: The before politically unknown jurist and deputy commander of the Kosovo police forces, Ms. Atifete Jahjaga, is the new compromise and first female President of the Republic of Kosovo.

Kosovo political crisis: AKR calms down – parties soften tone – further canditates?

Adem-DemaciPRISTINA, Kosovo ++ After ultimately urging its coalition partner PDK to guarantee for an anew election of Pacolli as President of Kosovo, Pacolli’s AKR now softens its tone by saying, they never set conditions but expressed re-quests.  LDK head Isa Mustafa was even quoted as saying, LDK would support Pacolli’s election in case of early – then direct – presidential and parallel parliament elections in summer 2012. Likewise AAK stated, the problem could be solved. Meanwhile Defence Minister Agim Çeku and acting head of AKR  Ibrahim Makolli are con-sidered as alternatives for the presidency, whereas Vetevendosje proposed former KLA representative and Sakharov Prize awarded Adem Demaci as a possible candidate.

PRISTINA, Kosovo — One might doubt if Jakup Krasniqi, President of the Koso-var parliament and again acting Presi-dent of the Republic of Kosovo acts with intention or with ignorance. It was Kras-niqi chairing the session, which caused both the decision of the Constitutional Court to annul the recent election for the President of Kosovo – as well as the follow-ing constitutional and political crisis: First by unawareness of a constitutionally requested minimum presence of MPs (quorum) for the election of the Kosovan President.

Kosovo President and coalition crisis + parliament elections in 45 days?

Thaci-PacolliPRISTINA, Kosovo ++ This weekend the political party AKR requested a guarantee from Kosovo PM Thaci and his PDK for a re-election of Pacolli as President of Kosovo at the upcoming respective parliamentary session. Former short-term Presi-dent Pacolli and AKR expressed this request as a condition for an ongo-ing coalition with the PDK. Krasniqi feels not responsible - but blames his staffPRISTINA, Kosovo ++  According to the Constitutional Court of Kosovo the election of Behgjet Pacolli as the new President of Kosovo by the Assembly was unconstitu-tional. Pacolli’s advisor Gashi declared that Pacolli is ready to respect this decision: "Pacolli will be the candidate of the coalition partners in the new election of a new president because based on the decision of the Constitutional Court, he did not violate the constitution".

Election of Kosovo’s president was unconstitutional

pacolli-gaddafiPRISTINA, Kosovo ++ The election of Kosovo’s president last month was unconstitutional – Kosovo’s highest court ruled today after a complaint of oppo-sition parties. The Constitutional Court "by majority vote, with two judges dissenting, declared the decision of the assembly of the Republic of Kosovo … concerning the election of the president of the Republic of Kosovo, dated 22 February 2011, unconstitutional," … without giving further reasons for its decision. The ruling was the second against a Kosovo head of state in six months. President Fatmir Sejdiu resigned in September after the same court said he violated the constitution by also serving as a party leader.
