DPM Pacolli, LilaPRISTINA (PRISHTINA) – After his forced resignation from the office of the President of Kosovo, businessman and head of the political party AKR accepted his “promo-tion” to the position of the “first deputy prime minister”. This was offered to Pacolli by PDK head and Kosovo PM Thaci in order compensate the anger of AKR about its loss of power, after US ambassador Dell instructed the ruling coalition and LDK to accept the recently voted Atifete Jahjaga as the new President of the republic.

Kosovos “Dell-ocray” candidate Atifete Jahjaga wins presidential election

AtifeteJahjagaPRISTINA / PRISHTINA – The new and first female President of the Republic of Kosovo is the 36-years old politically unknown jurist Atifete Jahjaga. She won the election on the first run with an absolute majority of 80 votes out of  the 120-seats parliament. President Jahjaga was born in the region of Gjakova and is married with a dentist. Before her election she was the deputy commander of the Kosovo Police.  She does not belong to the political scene of Kosovo and is seen as an interim solution until the preparation of direct presidential elections within 18 months. Her candidacy was said to be “pushed” by US ambassador Dell.

Kosovo’s Compromise-President Thwarts Ambitions of Parliament Speaker Krasniqi

PRISHTINA / PRISTINA – Both parties of the ruling coalition in Kosovo, the New Alliance for Kosovo (AKR) and the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), agreed together with the biggest opposition party, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), on a “consensual” candidate for the recently passed anew presidential election by the Kosovan parlia-ment: The before politically unknown jurist and deputy commander of the Kosovo police forces, Ms. Atifete Jahjaga, is the new compromise and first female President of the Republic of Kosovo.

Kosovo: the political limbo continues

Doris-PackPRISHTINA / PRISTINA ++ Despite intensive interventions from Kosovo EU representative Pieter Feith and Kosovo US Ambassador Dell, the political situation in Kosovo remains stagnating: At a meeting of Dell with the heads of PDK, AKR and LDK, Kosovo PM Thaci particularly refused the request from LDK head and mayor of Prishtina Isa Mustafa for early elections in 2012, whereas the main unsolved topic is still to find a consensual candidate for the presidency of the Republic.
