Kosovo PM Thaci to be investigated on Marty Report allegations

Dick-HashimPRISTINA, Kosovo — Kosovo media widely covered the intention of the European Union (EU) to investigate accusations of the Dick Marty Report. The Council of Europe Ra- pporteur, Senator Dick Marty, in his report from December 2010 claims that members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) in the time from 1998 to 2000 were involved in organ trading and organized crime. A special focus is given on the so called Drenica Group of the former KLA commander, current Kosovo Prime Minister and Head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) Hashim Thaci. Balkan Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence – at World Press Freedom Day

Selvije-BajramiAn occasion to briefly review the media situation in Kosovo: By coincidence together with the World Press Freedom Day on 3rd. May started the 2011 Balkan Fellow-ship for Journalistic Excellence programme. Accor-ding to the organizer, this year’s programme sets a focus on justice in legal and social dimensions. Ten journalists from the Balkans attended the opening presentations in Austria’s capital city Vienna. Main speakers were Christoph Prantner from Austria’s daily "Der Standard" and Igor Stiks, research fellow at the Scottish University of Edinburgh. The event lasts until the end of this week.

Kosovo political crisis: AKR calms down – parties soften tone – further canditates?

Adem-DemaciPRISTINA, Kosovo ++ After ultimately urging its coalition partner PDK to guarantee for an anew election of Pacolli as President of Kosovo, Pacolli’s AKR now softens its tone by saying, they never set conditions but expressed re-quests.  LDK head Isa Mustafa was even quoted as saying, LDK would support Pacolli’s election in case of early – then direct – presidential and parallel parliament elections in summer 2012. Likewise AAK stated, the problem could be solved. Meanwhile Defence Minister Agim Çeku and acting head of AKR  Ibrahim Makolli are con-sidered as alternatives for the presidency, whereas Vetevendosje proposed former KLA representative and Sakharov Prize awarded Adem Demaci as a possible candidate.
