Kosovo Serbia Talks at EU HQ in Brussels

Edita-TahiriPRISTINA (PRISHTINA) — On Friday, delegations of Kosovo and Serbia continued their EU mediated dialogue in Brussels. The main topic was the movement of citizens of both countries, including ID cards, insurance of vehicles, driving licences, and car plates. The head of the Kosovo delegation, Kosovo Deputy PM Edita Tahiri, stated that all measures should be implemented  insists reciprocally. However, the current round of talks is said to have ended without concrete results, whereas the Slovakian diplomat Miroslav Lajcak still emphasized …

… the advantage of newly gained direct communication channels of Prishtina and Belgrade.

Meanwhile media from Kosovo commented on the incomplete preparation of the Kosovan delegation and the Kosovan government for the talks. Quoting DPM Tahiri  the Government of Kosovo only started in the last weeks and still hasn’t finalized drafting a platform for this process.

Different from requests of European Parliament Member Charles Tannock, the partition of Kosovo wasn’t raised. According to EU director Miroslav Lajcak this issue is anyway not on the EU agenda.

No date is set for now regarding the continuation of the talks. The Kosovan oppositional political party Vetevendosje (Self-determination) in several statements complained, the talks would only be held to support Serbia’s EU integration process but not to find true solutions for Kosovo as an independent state.
