Kosovo: the political limbo continues

Doris-PackPRISHTINA / PRISTINA ++ Despite intensive interventions from Kosovo EU representative Pieter Feith and Kosovo US Ambassador Dell, the political situation in Kosovo remains stagnating: At a meeting of Dell with the heads of PDK, AKR and LDK, Kosovo PM Thaci particularly refused the request from LDK head and mayor of Prishtina Isa Mustafa for early elections in 2012, whereas the main unsolved topic is still to find a consensual candidate for the presidency of the Republic.

In this context EU MP Doris Pack was quoted as saying, that “it is madness to think about new elections in Kosovo again. The politicians elected in the December 12 elections have to find a solution for the political crisis”.

Meanwhile the PDK MP and acting President of Kosovo Krasniqi expressed, he feels ignored at the current talks. Also the further opposition parties Vetevendosje and AAK announced to remain absent from the presidential election due to their exclusion from ongoing negotiations.  More news find at the News Monitor 06.04.2011 and the Broadcast Monitor 05.04.2011KS
